SMART-CM Project Objectives
SMART-CM, co-funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission.
aims to develop a Service Platform and a Neutral
Approach which will enable secure and interoperable B2B and B2C data communications in global
door-to-door container transport management, using ubiquitous track & trace technologies (GPS & RFID)
and following specific implementation strategies:
- A single window approach, to achieve interoperability of Container Security Technologies.
- Handling of events within the container transport chain, to enable minimization of
processes’ duration & cost and improvement of chain planning.
- Continuous control of containers, to accomplish high level chain security.
- Efficient exchange of information among the industrial actors and between industry
and the customs authorities, based on authorisation policies, to increase supply chain visibility.
- Working with existing initiatives such as that of AEO
and the Green Lanes implementation, to
achieve faster throughput in transport corridors.

INTEGRITY Project Objectives
INTEGRITY, a project funded by the European Commission in the 7th Framework Programme for
Research & Development, is intending to significantly improve the reliability and predictability
of door-to-door container chains.
Kernel of the project is the development of the so-called Shared Integrated Container
Information System (SICIS) allowing authorised companies and authorities to access planning
and status information of selected transports. Proactive planning following the Supply Chain
Event Management (SCEM) approach allows forecasting problems well before they might occur.
Matching logistics data with security information, e.g. from electronic seals, container
security devices, and scanning equipment together with the integration of the AEO (authorised
economic operator) approach allow to satisfy both the logistics industry and Customs Authorities
fulfilling their duties thus creating win-win situations.
